When you access a website, email account, network server or other password-protected item, you can choose to save the password in your keychain so you don’t have to remember or enter the password each time. Each user on a Mac has a login keychain. The password for your login keychain matches the password you use to log in to your Mac. This tip works just for passwords stored in Apple’s own Keychain tool. If you’re using a more powerful password manager, like 1Password, you’ll have to manage logins using that tool’s app. From the Edit menu, choose “Change Password for Keychain 'login.' ” Enter the old password of your user account in the Current Password field. This is the password you were using before the password was reset. Enter the new password of your user account in the New Password field. This is the password you're now using to log in to your Mac. Jul 23, 2017  All of a sudden passwords items for few website logins are missing in my iCloud Keychain. Recently, I had disabled iCloud keychain on my iPhone 7 only to enable it back. When I disabled the iCloud keychain, I chose to delete the login and passwords from my phone. Sep 08, 2015  I'll keep it simple. Basically, I forgot the password to my Mac. A friend helped me regain access to my Mac by creating a new keychain. I'm now left without Messages, FaceTime and even Mail sometimes. They keep asking for my password to the 'login' keychain that I don't remember anymore. Jul 24, 2019  After you turn on two-step verification or set up the Authenticator app, you may run into issues if you use apps or older devices (like Windows Phone 8 and Xbox 360) that don't support two-step verification. If you have two-step verification turned on and an app isn't prompting you to enter a security code when you sign in, you may be able to sign in with an app password instead.

  Unfortunately, there is not a way that you can disable the Mac keychain from using Quicken. It's a feature that allows you to not have to enter your account information in each time.

  I follow the same practice re storing passwords, but haven't had this issue. I've instructed Mac to 'never' store certain passwords. Perhaps that would help.

  Tx Harold. Quicken for Mac is the only app that I have ever used that forced me to do this. Hopefully if/when Quicken elects to go with a unified Quicken app for Mac and PC it will address this annoying problem.

  Cynthia do you know how you did this? I don't want to disable all password storage (I was under the impression that the ones I store when using Chrome are not stored in the Keychain but may be wrong). Tx

  I use Safari, and whenever I create an online account, it asks if I want to store the password - the choices are Never, Not Now, or Yes. So for anything financial, I choose Never.

  Feb 06, 2018. Get Info on the folder that you want to replace the icon. Click on the blue folder in the top left (or PNG icon with apple logo from a failed attempt) - It should be outlined in blue.
